Conference Weekend and Blake!

We spent Conference weekend in Utah at my Dad's and LaVon's. We had a great time. We got to go to a few soccer games for McKenzie and had a feast Sunday night to celebrate mine and Michael's Birthdays. I heard some wonderful talks from various Conference Speakers and enjoyed hearing the new Church stats. We really enjoyed playing "Ticket to Ride". Kyle and I are considering buying it. The kids always love playing with Cheyenne and McKenzie and thoroughly had a blast running around in the backyard. Dad and I talked a lot about next years garden and gave me a few good tip on Cantaloupe and Watermelon. Grampa Smith had a huge melon farm outside of Las Vegas wile Dad was growing up. I am so happy we are closer to LaVon and Dad.

Ok, so here is some catch up for Blake. Blake David Lainhart was born April 1st, 2006 (April Fools). He was born at Valley Hospital around 5AM. He was 7lbs 13oz and had a big bald spot in the from of his hair from it rubbing in the womb. I was very fortunate that Dr. Jackson allowed me to deliver normal (I had a C-section with Gideon). It was about 11 hours of labor and went smoothly. The funny thing about this labor was the fact that my water broke while we were walking in Walmart......and of course I was NOWHERE near the front door. It was quite interesting" Kyle, I am going to the car...my water just broke....pay for the stuff and meet me there". Fun huh! Anyway, Blake tried to be a good baby, but unfortunately he had digestion problems. He cried and cried and cried and cried ALL the time. The Dr. just said it was Colic, but I knew it was his digestion because a 2 month old does not have HUGE poops like he did. Eventually at 9 months they put him on some meds that helped him poop. Thank you! He only had to be on them a few months and he was much happier. Blake as a baby was not as smiley as Gideon, but he loved to laugh. He drooled a ton and walked at 1 year of age. That stubborn boy could have walked months earlier, but didn't want to until we were at Grampa Lainharts and he didn't like crawling on tile. Blake would cry/sing himself to sleep at night "E I E I O" (the O being really sad ) he loved to sing Old McDonald. Blake was a Monkey for Halloween his first year and carried a plastic Banana. Too Cute. Cami and Blake are 17 months apart and he accepted having a new baby around really well. He loves Start Wars of course, but it didn't take him long to become attached to Buzz Lightyear. He is definitely more hyper than Gideon. He makes the funniest noises....one that reminds me of the seagull Skuddles singing in the Little Mermaid. He loves making crazy faces and has a super long, pointy tongue. He Loves cowboys and idollizes Grampa Lainhart the "TRUE" Cowboy and he says home is at Grampa's. He loves being outside and running around. Gideon and Blake play a lot together, but surprisingly he enjoys his time without Gideon when he's at school. Blake likes to sing to Kyle's Bluegrass CD and is a really good boy in Nursery. He is 3 years old now and we love you Blake!

  1. The cheapest place for Ticket to Ride is Amazon and right now it is free shipping. I am getting that for my sister in law for Christmas.
What are the tips for the melons?

  2. My dad says to plant them in long mounds and plant seeds everyother mound. Then once the seeds have grown big enough that they are flopped over till up the middle mound and let them spread out on that. Also, fertilize with Nitrogen a month before planting seeds and water twice a week.
